These last couple of weeks we have had to bid our farewells to our priests who will both be departing our parishes and going off on their own journeys this coming week. Fr. Huber is moving to Gilbertville and Fr. Dellaert is moving to Norway (Iowa, not Europe!). They will be starting new adventures there and we will be welcoming new young priests to "age" and season. While we wait this week in anticipation to see what our future holds with these two priests, it is with rather heavy hearts that we see our present priests leave. The only thing that is getting me thru this is Fr. Huber's reassurance that it is not "good-bye", just TTFN. I'm sure we will be visiting each other throughout the years and razzing each other about one thing or another. Maybe I will even get to pop in on Fr. Dellaert too as he will be near Cedar Rapids as is my sister, Cyndi.
God be with both of them and with our parishes here as we all deal with change in one form or another.
Speaking of "out with the old, in with the new", Micah got a "new" car this week. We received the news from our nephew, Dan, that Micah's Aurora was going to need some major work before he went off to college and were we really wanting to spend that much on a 1996 vehicle. Mike bit the bullet and we began car shopping. Mike got his eyes opened when we drove through dealerships last weekend and was a little disappointed when the cars he had in mind were a little on the high side of our price range. While looking in the paper, I noticed the ad for a 2004 Grand Prix and saw that the price was within our range and also that it was a Garner phone number. Mike gave them a call and we went to look at it on Friday night, test drove it and drove it home that night. It really is a nice car (I think maybe just a bit too nice for a college boy, maybe more like that of a college boy's mom!). I think we really hit the jackpot with this one but time will tell.
The items on the "to do" list before college are dwindling as is Micah's time before he leaves for Loras. The "official" date is August 26th and he starts classes on August 30th. Who knows if we will all be ready by then but please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I don't know who this is more stressful for, Micah or mom!
We had a busy week at work this week, all of the charges needed to be adjusted before any July charges could be entered and as far as the clinic charges, those had to be entered line by line for each clinic. Carpal tunnel here I come! Hopefully things will slow down a little this week. We also had a couple of family members of co-workers get sick and they had to leave the office which left things a little short-staffed and busier than usual. One of my coworkers, Terrie Kunkel, lost her mother this week so she will be absent next week. One of these days things will return to hum-drum again.
Well, Mike is chomping at the bit to take off and head to Garner so I had better sign off and get changed.
