We have finally arrived at St. John! Our flight was ahead of schedule getting here. The car ride was quite exciting! Jamie and Bobby have never seen the poor island countries and their "road systems". Bobby is our elected driver and she is doing a good job but we tend to have to pry her fingers from the steering wheel upon arrival at our destinations. She keeps having to remind herself to drive on the left side of the road and there are all kinds of hairpin curves here and some of the hills we swear are worse than any amusement park ride. I told her that since she is driving she can pick the beach we will go to tomorrow -- she said the closest one is where we will be headed and she is doing her research on that tonight.
We stopped at the market in Cruz Bay to pick up some groceries. Got some meat and veggies to grill here at the villa. Jamie was our cook and was a little disturbed when she heard a donkey outside while she was grilling. Apparently the run wild in these parts.
Hopefully Bobby and I will be able to get a good night's sleep tonight. Neither one of us slept last night but we sat and listened to Jamie sleep like a rock and snore all night. We are not too keen on our sense of direction here so have no clue on which window the sun will be pouring in tomorrow morning. My shower has windows in it with screens only instead of glass. We are in one of those houses high in the side of the hill so only somebody looking out with a telescope from across the bay could possibly see (I hope!).
We have been 'sampling' some of the flavored rums we bought tonight. So far mango is my fav followed by guava. I can only tolerate the coconut flavored one if i can get it past my nose...smells a little too much like suntan lotion to drink.
