Ready or not, here comes summer!

This was a very pleasant weekend I must say. On Friday, Mike, Micah and my nephew, Dan went to Cedar Rapids to move our daughter to Cedar Falls. They didn't get home until about 1:00 a.m. on Saturday due to the fact that they didn't get started for Cedar Rapids until 1:00 and had a blow out on the tire of the trailer. At least it was empty so that made it somewhat easier. Reed and I went to Algona together that night and went to KFC/Long John Silver's. Reed tried the "Double Down" and I had the grilled tilapia. We then went to look at some landscaping plants but couldn't find much we liked so we headed to the grocery store and then home. On Saturday night, the boys and I went to see Shrek in 3D. It was a cute movie but after forking out the $$$ I realized quickly why we don't go to very many movies any more.

Sunday was very restful. We went to mass and out to breakfast as is customary for us. We then just pretty much laid around watching Star Wars movies and doing a little laundry here and there. Kind of nice to have a day like that every once in a while.

Memorial Day started with a mass at the St. Patrick cemetery. Fr. Dellaert has made this a tradition and hopefully the newly appointed priests will carry this on. It was a beautiful day, not too cool, not too windy...pretty much just right. The birds were singing during the consecration and the geese were honking overhead at the closing prayer. Afterwards we gathered with our friends there and visited for a while.

Upon returning home, Mike and the boys did some necessary chores and we then went to Mason City and had a late lunch and bought some perennials at Kriegers. We had to be home by 6 as Mike has ambulance call this week. So when we got home, Reed and I started planting. We got half of them planted and intended to finish this evening but it is a little rainy this evening so decided to work inside instead. Hopefully my dear dogs won't get the idea to 'unplant' the flowers we worked so hard to plant.

Micah went in to the doctor today and it turns out he has strep throat and ear infection. Boy, am I just "Mother of the Year" material! I've been just telling him to take some Ibuprofen and 'suck it up'. Hopefully the antibiotic will kick in and he will be in better form before the weekend when he has to sing at a wedding. He went to rehearse this evening and said it went pretty well. All songs except for one are in the regular music issue so he is familiar with them.

We are entertaining again on Friday so trying to get the place back in fine form again. Luckily not too much damage has been done since the graduation party!

Looks like this week is going by fast, can't believe tomorrow will be Wednesday already. Have a great week and soon-to-be weekend!
