Day of Freebies

I'll get it over with...here is the Tuesday suit. By some divine intervention, my horrendous tan lines from the Monday suit were not noticable once morning came. I slapped some bronzer on the less tan parts before I went to bed and ... wa laaa, no more landing strip. We got up so early in the a.m. compared to everyone else on the island and went to the beach earlier than yesterday (about 9:30 a.m.). We went to Trunk Bay and when we got there the shore line was rough today so no snorkeling was allowed and the swimming was risky but we could go in without paying the fee so we gave it a whirl.

The water today was a little chilly as you can tell by Bobby's expression on the left. It was a little breezy and the waves really crashed against the shore in the a.m. but by afternoon was much calmer. However, Jamie did have goose bumps during the day (I'm sure you are all feeling very bad for her!) We spent the day just trying to even out our tan lines from the day before.

We all got maybe a little too much sun today. I am the least red of the three of us. (That 70 sunscreen really paid off!). Jamie and I are both walking a little funny as we have sunburns in places the sun shouldn't shine. Oh well, live and learn.

We finally found the local hang out for partying. The side of the island where we are staying is very peaceful. The night life is pretty much on the other side of the island. We did find the restaurant/bar we had read about online called 'Skinny Legs'. We will be going there every night for the rest of this week for sure. We had delicious juicy hamburgers there and mighty tasty drinks. Jamie and I indulged in mango Pain Killers (we were in need, believe me!) and Bobby tried a little bit of this and that with a couple of Pain Killers thrown in. It was there we met Tyrone, aka the Coconut Man. We initially just asked him if we could take his picture with us as we just thought his dreadlocks up in the turban thing was cool. Then he took us out to his truck and let us sample fresh coconut milk and coconut. He then proceeded to join us at our table and treated us to grilled lobster that he provided for the restaurant to cook. It was grilled and served as Lobster Thermador. Neither of my nieces had ever eaten lobster before (this was the virginity they lost ont he Virgin Islands!). It was absolutely delicious. Sure beats Red Lobster! The local bars all close at 8 but we kept this one open until 9:30 (that's pretty sad in terms back home but it is typical here on the island!)

Stay tuned for more adventures/misadventures of the Smith Girls Do the Virgin Islands!
